Great Apes - Uganda & Rwanda

Documenting the Great Apes of East Africa with National Geographic Expeditions on flights, hikes, jeeps, river boats, and safaris. Trekking through Uganda and Rwanda with iPhones, Go Pros, and a Sony A7Sii, to capture 4K video and Hi-Rez photos along the way.

Galápagos Islands - Ecuador

A journey to the land of Charles Darwin: the scattered volcanic Galápagos Islands 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador. Life there moves to the rhythm of nature with thousands of endemic species, both on its land and under its waters. Galápagos has a “naïve ecology”, in that the animals evolve without predators and have no instinctive fear of humans. Which makes the archipelago a photographer's playground and a storyteller’s dream come true. I captured this experience in 4K with an iPhone 14 Pro Max, a Go Pro Hero 10 Black, and a Sony A7Sii for both video and stills.

Adventures by Disney in Montana

Spectacular beauty? Check. Awe-inspiring natural wonders? Check. Here's my journey to the Old West of Montana and Yellowstone National Park with Adventures by Disney. Capturing rustic dude ranches, horseback riding, and fly-fishing with an iPhone, GoPro, and a Sony A7Sii.

I have the privilege of helping dear friends document their long term mission of stewarding an amazing piece of Hawaiian forrest. Their vision is to bring back the health of the ʻĀina (land) by restoring a Hawaiian ecosystem with a growing community. This is a good example of how our small footprint of Backpack Storytelling can gently tread into delicate places. Captured in 4K on an iPhone 15 Pro Max and edited in Final Cut Pro X.

‘Ulu in Hawaii on an iPhone

Recognizing the potential of the ‘Ulu tree (AKA, Breadfruit) Loren Shoop and his team at 'Ulu Mana have made it their mission to offer unique, high quality, simple, and delicious products made from 'ulu. All their fruit is locally grown contributing to the health of Hawaii's farms, community, and economy. Shot entirely on an iPhone 12 Pro Max with no supplemental lighting. Backpack Storytelling allows you to get up-close-and-personal without being intrusive. Small Cameras. Big Stories.

We love helping others explore all the fun at the resorts and the many experiences within their surroundings.

The Bedouin Lifestyle

My first Backpack Story in 1996 on an HLV-55 Ikegami Betacam. The professor described a typical "Day in the Life" of the tribesmen, their history, uniqueness, and how modern technology is erasing their very existence.
